A Weekend in Dubai

Sunday, July 16, 2017
Located just one and half hour by bus from capital city Abu Dhabi, Dubai is the largest and most populous city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). And most definitely the place to be.

This vibrant city is one of the most modern and high-tech cities of the world and functions as a business hub of the Middle East.

As of 2012 Dubai was the most expensive city in the world. But since 2008 the tallest structure in the world - the Burj Khalifa - has amazed everyone in a radius of 95 km (yes, you can actually see it from that afar). The building itself has a roof height of 828 m and an actual height of 829.8 m incl. the antenna on top. Plans of a new structure reaching the 1 km mark has already begun.
Below the tower you'll find a water fountain show which runs about every 20 min.

Next to Burj Khalifa you'll find the enormous Dubai Mall. The largest mall in the world of course. And in 2011 the most visited building on the planet. The mall hosts an underwater zoo and aquarium and a waterfall.

If you want a feel of the old Dubai before all the oil money started changing the city. Head to either Gold Souk or Spice Souk where you'll find local-styled markets and oriental products.
