Reachable from Dubai by bus (1½ hour) capital city Abu Dhabi is most definitely worth a visit. Even though Abu Dhabi is the capital city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is only the second most populous city in the country (only surpassed by Dubai).

Emirates Palace. One of the most luxurious hotels in the world and created in colours that supposedly reflect the different shades of sand found in the Arabian desert.
Be sure to wear closed shoes, long pants and a shirt that covers your shoulders to enter this magnificent palace. Entrance is free by the way.

Hyatt Capital Gate. Recognized as the furthest leaning man-made tower in the world. With a striking lean the tower inclines 18 degree to the west.
