The Legend of the Sea Turtle

Wednesday, July 30, 2014
Today was my second day snorkeling in Moalboal, Philippines.
It's always been a dream of mine to swim with a wild sea turtle, so today's misson was to find a turtle willing to swim with me.

We set out from Panagsama Beach - a snorkeling paradise with corals, colorful fish and clear water. Feeling more confident and at home in the water than yesterday I was ready to look for the sea turtle that would fulfill my dream.

We swam around for a long time and suddenly, there it was - the legendary sea turtle! Of course I had my GoPro with me, but unfortunately it wouldn't record or take any photos. I had to leave it hanging around my wrist and just enjoy the moment.

Even though the turtle was afraid to have his picture taken, he was not shy of having a swim with me and the others. We stayed with him for a good 10 minutes, before I carefully touched his shield and bid him farewell. Now there's a moment I will never forget! He was a beautiful and very majestic creature!

I have no prove of how I lived out one of my biggest childhood dreams - but I know, that I enjoyed that moment so much more without a camera in my hand.
