The central spot of Jordan is logically the capital Amman. There are plenty of sights to visit in Amman.
Temple of Hercules in Amman, Jordan
The most iconic sight in Amman is the old roman ruins. Located in downtown on a hill with a great view over the capital city. The Temple of Hercules is one of the most dominate sights at the Amman Citadel.

Right next to the Temple of Hercules you'll find Umayyad Palace. There's also a small museum at the Citadel. If you buy a Jordanian Pass online before you arrive in Jordan. You'll gain free access to these sights (along with a cheaper Visa, free day in Petra and much more).
On the south side of the Citadel you can spot the ancient Roman Amphitheatre. You can walk there from the Citadel.

Close by the Roman Amphitheatre there's a small street named Daraj Al Kalha or Al Kalha steps. Follow the steps until you reach the murals. There are quite a few, but the most famous is the faces of Mahmoud Darwish (right) a Palestinian poet and author. Regarded as the Palestinian national poet. Unfortunately he died in 2008. Next to him is Marcel Khalife (left) a Lebanese composer, singer and oud player. Who became famous all over the world for songs based on Mahoud Darwish's poetry.
